For those of you engaged in Site Inductions. Do the people receiving them have an interest in what you are saying?

Feedback I have is that it is class room based with the pedagogy of learning style like the old UK School System. The issue I have is would this be the best way to teach and raise awareness to Construction professionals who invariably are skilled workers - If done this way is it affective - If not done this way HOW do you do it?

If you are talking about contractor inductions then you invariably find that they will do the absolute minimum to get through. They do many of them every year and the content would not vary a great deal. I find that there interest is limited to just getting through it. To engage the contractor we use an online induction module that the contractor must do before attending site, we also use a system that then issues them a smart card on completion, with their photo on it, which they must use to log into site via a card reader. The online module we have has a test at the end of each module to ensure that the contractor has learnt the content. The system we use also tracks contractor compliance so it is a whole of contractor engagement solution. The solution we use is iPRO Live (http://www.iprosolutions.com/).

thank you @toddmartin for your great comment. Do you have any resource to share that would help guide someone through a site induction?

yes - you are correct, at all sites. The key part is not to rush it @kenash as is a time to share knowledge and instructions with your workers; as well as an opportunity to collect insights and learning from their previous experiences. This will help you in your with your site audits and assessments on later.

This is a presentation - no cards or photo info.
