Our company, Wild Side Salmon, LLC only purchases fish from sustainable sources, as certified by both the Marine Stewardship Council, and also the Responsible Fisheries Management protocol implemented by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute. The RFM model was developed by the FAO, based on management and sustainability. Our regional salmon resources have been sustaining our people for over 10,000 years, and the last 10 years has seen record high returns of sockeye salmon.

On top of the sustainability of the resource that we purchase and process, we also use recyclable and compostable boxes for packing. Our company partners with another company for composting of our fish waste, closing the waste loop, creating value, and increasing food security in our region by creating fish compost. We pay our employees a fair wage, and high as many local people from the region as possible. We also pay our fishermen a fair price for the sockeye salmon, and always post a price prior to the season, which none of the other salmon processing companies do.

Yes, I shall be happy to share some stories. I began working in the environmental, health and safety area many years ago. Post a masters degree from Drexel University in the environmental area, I worked for the state of NJ. There a group that I lead developed one of the county's first air quality indexes. The air quality index was shared with the state population for many years and hopefully helped people with lung issues during days when the air quality was not the best.

Prior to retiring I worked some 40 years in the chemical industry addressing EHS issues. I shall be happy to share other stories in the future if thought to be of value.
