Edit Pencil Shows Up Even When The User Doesn't Have Edit Permission

Is it me or is the edit pencil showing up in Intelex Release 6.5.2 even if users do not have edit permissions to a record?  In the past if users didn't have edit permissions the pencil would not even show up.  Now it appears to show up, and it just throws an error message to the user if they click on the pencil saying that they do not hav edit permissions.  It would be preferable to not even have it show up like it was before.

I realize this is an old question, but in case it comes up in other users' searches, I wanted to respond and say that adding DisplayEditColumn="false" to the InventoryView tag seemed to work to remove the "pencil" column from an inventory where I wanted to avoid allowing users to view details/edit/add entry for the records.

Hi Albert,
I wondered as much.  That makes sense.

In this specific case I wouldn't mind manually disabling the button so it never shows up.  I found this link about how to do that from a standard inventory view markup.

https://www.intelex-exchange.com/learning/guides/v6/3/361/inventoryview-...

I'd like to disable it from a GridPanel.  In my case, the code is attached. If anyone has any advice on how to disable the pencil from this view, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Ryan

Ryan,
I believe this was implemented in V6.4.14

it is a performance enhancement feature:

Resolved a performance issue when rendering a detail view as a non-administrator. As a result, the pencil icon representing editing will always be clickable. The proper security check will be done on click instead of while the detail view is being displayed.
